Ten Marks and a Train Ticket - Benno’s Escape to Freedom
The publication is the first in the League for Human Rights’ Holocaust and Hope Testimonial Series. The authors of this book, Susy Goldstein, Gina Hamilton and Wendy Share, tell the story of their father’s escape to freedom, a child of the Kindertransport. In January 1939, Benno’s parents sent him and his brother, then just 9 and 13 years old, on a train departing Germany. Four months later they arrived in England as part of the Kindertransport. Like the majority of the 10,000 children saved by this rescue effort, they never saw their parents again.

‘Government rightly fingered Hamas as cause of conflict’
TORONTO – A statement released on Sunday by the Canadian government, which placed full blame for the current conflict on Hamas, was welcomed by B’nai Brith Canada.
The statement by Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon said that “Canada maintains that the rocket attacks are the cause of this crisis.”
“For years, the terrorist group Hamas has ruthlessly and deliberately targeted Israel’s civilian population,” said Frank Dimant, B'nai Brith Canada's executive vice-president. “No sovereign state can stand idly by and allow a terrorist group to launch rockets against its citizens with impunity, nor allow it the means to rearm and enhance its weapons capability, as has been the case with Hamas ever since Israel unitlaterally evacuated the area.
