BBYO TEENS SPENT DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS CLEANING UP LOCAL COMMUNITY
More than 350 teens at BBYO’s Northern Region East Regional Convention spent the day after Christmas making a real difference in Philadelphia. In addition to lending a helping hand during the holiday season, the teens were also featured on all three major news networks in Philadelphia as well as the local NPR affiliate.
BBYO PREPARES TEENS FOR LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL Committed to helping teens prepare for high school and beyond, BBYO leads college tours around the country and annually contacts college admissions officers at the top 30 colleges Jewish teens attend to let them know why teens with BBYO on their applications make stellar students on campus. In addition, BBYO has teamed up with Kaplan Test Prep to offer a $200 discount and “Hundreds of Heads” books—which publishes “How to Survive Getting into College”— to help teens navigate the college admissions process. A new survey released this month reveals that BBYO has a significantly positive impact on classic indicators of Jewish connection—attitudes, behaviors, and relationships—and in fact, BBYO alumni value Jewish connection at a much higher rate than do Jews in the general population (as measured by the United Jewish Communities National Jewish Population Survey 2000-01).

In line with reports that teens today are bitten by the “travel bug” more than ever before (Associated Press – Younger Teens Taking More Exotic Trips – March 2008), BBYO has expanded its travel division to incorporate even more destinations for Jewish teens to travel in a safe, group environment. The new program is called Passport to the World (Passport) and grew out of BBYO’s success with its Passport to Israel (P2I) program.
