The Tolerancia Lodge in Bratislava celebrated the 150th anniversary of Theodor Herzl’s birth

The event that took place in the community centre was open to the public and enjoyed a great success.

The programme included four subjects:  Mag. Ivica Bumova, director of the Judaic Institute of the University of Komenius presented a conference on the history of anti-Semitism since Medieval times until the Herzl period.

Philosopher Egon Gall analysed Herzl’s personality. Juraj Alner, President of the Lodge spoke about the realisation of Herzl’s ideas, changes and connotations of the word anti-Semitism, relationship between the different ethnic groups in Israel and on the future perspectives of this State.

Finally, Zeev Boker, Israeli Embassador to Slovakia gave his views on the subject.  The evening ended with long discussions.
