HUNGARY: B’nai B’rith Lodge – Budapest....Report by Viktor Hajos and Eva Vadasz
On 31st August as part of the Jewish Heritage Day, the Jewish Summer Festival and the “Pécs Cultural Capital of Europe for 2010,”event B’nai B’rith Budapest Lodge sponsored a concert in the Synagogue of Pécs...
Participating in the Cultural Capital’s program and the Jewish Summer Festival is an important public relations exercise for our Lodge.
Two world famous Hungarian musicians were advertised to appear-- Szilvia Karaszy on piano and Orsolya Korcsola on violin, with a traditional Jewish-song-programme.
Regrettably, there were not many Jewish programmes included in the event at Pécs and it was a great opportunity for us, to put our Lodge on the map. The Lodge supported the concert not only with money but with the help of volunteers to carry out hostess tasks. A bus has been organized for our members and guests to participate at this event. Due to unavoidable technical reasons, the concert was cancelled in the last minute.
Members of our Lodge were very sad to hear the cancellation of the concert. However, there were a number of advertisements on the Internet, in the radio, and the B’nai B’rith Budapest Lodge’s name appeared on the posters of the concert. |
