France - The Shlomo Altun 3365 Lodge in Antibes - Juan-les-Pins PDF Print E-mail

Shlomo Altun was born in Izmir, Turkey into a religious family, and moved to a kibbutz in Israel after the Second World War, for military training.

He was involved in the 1948 war of independence and enjoyed a military career, promoted to lieutenant, then colonel in the Israeli army. He worked abroad for the secret services and set up and commanded the elite "Golani Brigade".

Later he taught military strategies in Argentina and Paris. He fell at Khan Yunis joined the Six-Day war, and died in Haïfa on 22nd June 1967, aged 40.

The Lodge was named "Shlomo Altun" to honour this Israeli Hero.
