This Lodge was established in 1990.
The Lodge is named after Rambam, otherwise known as Maimonides or Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon.
This leading Jewish philosopher, who was said to be descended from King David, was born in 1135 in Cordoba in Spain.
He was a major authority on the Talmud, an astronomer, mathematician and doctor.
When the Almohades came to power, his family left for Fes, Morocco, then after persecution, for Egypt (Alexandria and Cairo).
Maimonides wrote a large number of works, both as a renowned doctor and a community leader, and the works, the best-known of which are his Guide for the Perplexed and Mishneh Torah, were later the subject of controversy.
He died in Cairo in 1204 and was buried in Tiberias.
