This Lodge was inaugurated on 13th January 2004, with a moving opening ceremony attended by two friends and colleagues of the journalist.
It took place in the Marc Chagall Room at Maison France-Israël. Kevin Delanay, Paris correspondent of the Wall Street Journal and Henry Samuels of the Daily Telegraph spoke in memory of Daniel.
In February 2002, Daniel Pearl was assassinated by Islamic terrorists in Pakistan.
A letter from his parents was read out at the opening ceremony.
They have founded the "Daniel Pearl Foundation", and have an excellent relationship with the new Lodge.
President Thierry Lachkar said, "Using Daniel Pearl's name sets the tone for the activities we want to undertake with our Lodge. Danny never made a big show of his Jewishness, despite his attachment to Israel, because deep down he was a humanist and wanted to promote Peace and dialogue between peoples.
Inspired by Danny's commitment and integrity, this Lodge aims to work assiduously in thought and reflection on current affairs".
The lodge has around forty members.
Naming a Lodge after Daniel Pearl is an act worthy of the B’nai B’rith movement.
