France - The David Ben Gourion Lodge in Paris PDF Print E-mail

This Lodge was established in 1988.

David Gryn was born in Plonsk, Poland, in 1886, and emigrated to Palestine in 1906, where he later adopted the name Ben Gurion.

From 1931 to 1935, he was Secretary General of the Histadrut, labour federation that led to the Biltmore Declaration (1942), setting the Zionist Movement's sights on a Jewish State to be established in Palestine. When the State of Israel was founded in 1948, he became Prime Minister and Defence Minister.

He enjoyed a lengthy political career, and is considered one of Israel's founding fathers.

Towards the end of his life, he withdrew to the Sde Boker Kibbutz, in the Negev, where he died on 1st September 1976.
