The Manchester B’nai B’rith Lodge was inaugurated in 1992.
This was a result of the closure of 3 former Lodges in the Manchester area – the Dr. Moses Gaster Lodge (Men’s Lodge), the Cissie Laski Lodge (Women’s Lodge) and the Whitefield Women's Lodge. Both the Dr. Moses Gaster Lodge and the Cissie Laski Lodge were no longer viable Lodges and were struggling to maintain membership.
It was decided that the best way forward was to amalgamate the three Lodges and in 1992, we became the Manchester B’nai B’rith Lodge. We had two Presidents at that time, one a former member of the Dr. Moses Gaster Lodge and the other, a member of the Whitefield Women’s Lodge.
Our membership has remained steady over the years – we have unfortunately had some deaths within the Lodge and happily have managed to get new members as well.
Although the ‘senior’ Lodge in the Manchester area (many of our members are great-grandparents) we have monthly Lodge meetings and have good attendances.
