Dear Friends of the Jewish Faith,

On 13 and 14 September you will be celebrating Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.

This is an appropriate time to think about the suffering of the Jewish people, and to the message of hope that is sweeping on Europe as well as to the cultural heritage of this people in Europe. Europeans have deep roots, inherited from the cultures that preceded them.

It is also a time to denounce anti-Semitism that is unfortunately still too present in the world. The European Union is a forum for free expression, of security and justice where each individual should be able to freely express himself and feel respected, opening up to others and accepting everyone with their individual differences is inseparable from the diversity that makes the richness of Europe.
