Makor, Jewish Cultural Program for Bratislava PDF Print E-mail

The Makor-program in Bratislava enters a new year of activity, beginning on December 20, 2007 with a lecture of researchers at the Slovak Memory Institute about “arizations” and other discriminations of Jews in the years 1939-1949.

A number of interesting lectures are foreseen up to next summer but also a seminar of three days about Chatam Sofer, the renowned Rabbi of Pressburg (Bratislava) in the 19th century, and a lively Shabbat celebration with lectures in early spring.

All this will be possible thanks to the help of the foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” (EVZ) in Berlin, private sponsors and the active involvement of the Tolerancia-Lodge in Bratislava.

We are aiming at establishing similar programs in other cities of Eastern Europe.
