On 25th April 2008 Reinold Simon, President of B’nai B’rith Europe, was the recipient of a high honour. Her Majesty Beatrix, Queen of Holland, bestowed upon him the Knighthood of the House of Orange – Nassau in appreciation of his longstanding commitment to the defence of the State of Israel and the Jewish community. Our warmest congratulations to Reinold Simon for this well deserved mark of distinction.
We are also very pleased to note that Julek Goldfinger of the Hollandia
Lodge, Celine Joosten, Madelon and Leo Meijers and Menno Paktor of the
Hillel Lodge, have also been honoured by the Queen of Holland. Sincere
congratulations to all our Sisters and Brothers.
At the beginning of April, President Reinold Simon and his wife visited
the Frankfurt Schöndstädt Lodge in Frankfurt and attended a musical
evening held at the Lodge premises.
The room was filled to capacity by members and guests who were
entertained by two young talented classical guitar musicians from the
Conservatory of Music and an eighteen year old pianist with a wide
repertoire.
The event was followed by a dinner party on the premises with the Lodge
Board during which BBE and local affairs were discussed. All agreed
that the future lay with our youth and that together with FAN and a
well organised youth movement we can and will rejuvenate B’nai B’rith
in Europe.
Our thanks to the President of the Lodge Ralph Hofmann and his Board
for having organised such a pleasant and constructive evening.
