On Sunday 25th May, a whole day was dedicated to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel that took place in Antibes Juan Les Pins that is twinned with Eilat.
After the service at the Synagogue, attended by the Mayor of Eilat and
the Mayor of Antibes, the Town Hall of Antibes hosted a cocktail party
at the Eilen Roc in Cap D’Antibes. On this occasion speeches were made
by the Mayor of Eilat, the Mayor of Antibes, Rabbi Zemour, the
President of France-Israel in Antibes, Jean Pierre Gonzalez, a
representative of France Israel in Paris, Senator Pierre Laffite, the
President of ACI in Antibes, Regis Salphati. Gifts by both Mayors were
presented, and the morning ended with the Hatikva and the Marseillaise.
During the afternoon, a professor from Jerusalem gave a lecture on
“Israel 60 years of existence”. In the evening a special jazz session
was organised with an Israeli jazzman followed by a wonderful dinner
and dancing to end these inspiring celebrations.
