In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel, on 14th May the B´nai B´rith Lodge Tolerancia together with the Bratislava's Cultural and Information Center organized a concert by the Shira U´tfila group. The band played traditional Sephardi music which attracted a very large audience filling the concert hall. The President of the lodge delivered an introductory speech on this occasion.
Prof. Iveta Radicová, sociologist, a Minister of Social Affairs in the
previous Slovakian Government and candidate for State Presidency,
visited our Lodge on 25th May. H.E. Zeev Boker, Israeli Ambassador to
Slovakia, attended this session among a large number of other guests.
Within the framework of the Makor programme, a discussion with Karol
Sidon, the Rabbi of Prague, was held in Bratislava on May 26 on the
famous Rabbi Chatam Sofer.
The Tolerancia Lodge’s on-going concern is the subject of anti-Semitism
and neo-Nazism, together with the desire to rehabilitate Jozef Tiso,
the former Slovak President during the period of the fascist state of
the Second World War.
