Antwerp - Jews and Christians join to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel |

The Mala Zimetbaum Lodge in Antwerp together with the Christians for Israel organisation in Belgium organised the event entitled “Mazel Tov Israel, for the 60th Anniversary of the State” for the first time in the country.
This event was attended by over 600 people, among them H.E. Mrs. Tamar
Samash, Israeli Ambassador to Belgium, Mr. Glashouwer, International
President of the Christians for Israel, Dr. Nigist Mengesha, Director
in Israel of the Ethiopian project, Mr. Aron Lev and Mr. Jack Spijer
from Keren Hayesod and members of both the Federal and local Belgian
governments.
Opened by René Trau, President of the Mala Zimetbaum Lodge, speeches
were delivered by H.E. Tamar Samash, Mrs. Nigist Mengesha and Mr.
Glashouwer.
Mrs. Mengesha spoke of her personal experiences as an Ethiopian in
Israel and emphasised that today many Ethiopians have the possibility
to attend Universities. She also stressed the importance of the role of
Keren Hayesod and their support of Jews originating from Ethiopia.
A very nice reception closed the evening.
