The B’nai B’rith London Bureau of International Affairs held a Seminar, hosted by HM Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in the magnificent surroundings of the India Council Chamber, on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process in June.
In the chair was Mr Robert Tinline, Head of the Near East Group, who
introduced the meeting by setting out HM Government policy towards the
Israeli - Palestinian issue and in particular the Annapolis process
launched last November. There was an exchange of views, ranging across
a whole spectrum of opinion. Other items discussed were the Iran
situation in some depth, and Lebanon and Syria.
The Seminar was attended by British Jewish leaders and businessmen, who
welcomed the opportunity to hear at first hand HM Government’s views on
these important foreign policy issues and to offer their own deeply
felt input into the discussion.
‘Today’s Seminar was all about bringing information direct to the
Jewish Community and at the same time, giving HM Foreign and
Commonwealth Office the benefit of the Community’s views on the
situation’ said Mark Marcus, Chairman of the Bureau.
B’nai B’rith’s London Bureau has been established over 10 years and has
fostered long term contacts with the FCO as well as many Foreign
Embassies in London. Its mission is to serve and protect the interests,
welfare and security of Jews, the State of Israel and to uphold the
Human Rights of minorities globally.
