Brussels, Belgium - November 01, 2007 - B'nai B'rith Europe (B.B.E.), a leading international Jewish organization, announces the recent appointment of Yves Pallade as Director of its Foreign Affairs Network (F.A.N.)...

Yves Pallade comes to B.B.E. with both a solid academic background in International Relations, holding a PhD in Political Science. In his previous function at the American Jewish Committee he worked closely with political decision-makers on defending Human Rights and supporting the State of Israel.

Dr. Pallade commented: "I am delighted to take on this exciting new challenge. As an organization with a European-wide membership base B.B.E. is uniquely equipped to deal with Human Rights problems and to support the State of Israel. I hope that my experience will help to make best use of its potential."

F.A.N. was founded by 38 members of B'nai B'rith in 2006 and is chaired by John Manheim. Its aim is to fight anti-Semitism and to conduct Israel advocacy in Europe by engaging with decision-makers and the media. The Human Rights Commission is coordinated by Dr. David Lévy-Bentolila.

Reinold Simon, President of B.B.E., said: "Yves brings with him both the profound knowledge and the professional experience in representing Jewish interests that are necessary to direct our undertakings in these fields."

Representing over 5000 members in more than 150 Lodges in 29 European countries, B.B.E. is part of the worldwide Jewish organisation, B'nai B'rith International, which was established in 1843. B.B.E. aims at the following goals:
  • To help people in distress.
  • To improve Jewish identity.
  • To broaden knowledge about Jews and Judaism across Europe.
  • To fight racism and anti-Semitic tendencies in particular.
  • To strengthen the relations between Jews in Europe and the State of Israel.
  • To promote understanding and good relations between European institutions and the State of Israel.
  • To support knowledge about Jewish presence and heritage in Europe.
