|
Between 27 - 29 March 2009 we organized a joint meeting of three fraternal neighbouring Lodges in the High Tatras mountains. The Bratislava, Kosice and Budapest Lodges took part. The organizer and the host Lodge was the Concordia Lodge of Kosice. Forty-three members and their families accepted our invitation to participate. We made use of the beautiful winter weather, and some of our members had the opportunity to do some skiing.
The evening of 28 March was devoted to an already announced lecture on
B´nai B´rith history, its first steps and meaning for the Jewish world.
Situation of the Slovak Jewry before 1989 and the relation of the State
to its Jewish community.
The lecture was part of the Makor programme and was given by Professor
P. Traubner. It attracted the interest of the participants and was
evaluated as very successful. The lecture was followed by a long
discussion.
The Shabbat service / lighting of the candles, Kidush and Havdala / were dedicated to our brothers from Budapest.
Our successful trip ended in the historical town of Kežmarok known for
its rich Jewish history. The Concordia Lodge of Kosice hosted the lunch
for the participants.
