B’nai B’rith Attends Events during the visit to Israel of the President of the European Commission

The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, completed a two-day visit to the State of Israel last week. B’nai Brith Director of European Union Affairs Nuno Wahnon Martins joined Barroso in Israel for the visit. 
Wahnon Martins attended the president’s visit to Yad Vashem and the official dinner hosted by Israeli President Shimon Peres. Wahnon Martins and World Center director Alan Schneider attended the Haifa University ceremony during which Barroso was awarded an honorary degree.
This was the first visit to Israel by Barroso as President of the European Commission.
During this visit Wahnon Martins held meetings with Barroso’s Head of Cabinet Hugo Sobral. During Barroso’s visit to Israel, an agreement on research and industry between the European Union and the State of Israel was signed.
