On November 8-10 2019, Lodge Carmel welcomed over 100 guests to celebrate the 120th  anniversary since the first lodge of B’nai B’rith was chartered in Bulgaria.

The program included Shabbat dinner on Friday, a visit to the magnificent Sofia Synagogue and city tour on Saturday, a brief historical presentation of the life of B’nai B’rith in Bulgaria followed by a concert of Sephardic music and a reception.

On Sunday November 10th, the guests were invited to participate in a regular meeting of the Lodge Carmel, where they took part in two discussions – on the Jewish forced labor camps during WWII and on contemporary antisemitism.

The members of Lodge Carmel were honored to receive congratulations addressed from the President of the Republic of Bulgaria  – Rumen Radev, from B’nai B’rith President – C.Kaufman and CEO D.Mariachin – delivered by A.Schneider.

The festive atmosphere of the event provided an opportunity for the brothers and sisters from Bulgaria, France,  Germany, Greece, Israel,  Slovakia and Turkey to discuss new projects and ideas, whose fulfillment we are anxious to see happen in the months and years to come.
