In response to the Ukrainian crisis B’nai B’rith Europe, together with HIAS Europe and ECJC, organized a 1.5 day seminar on how to welcome refugees into new communities. The training took place from the 15th to the 17th of June 2022, in Brussels, Belgium.

The seminar brought together around 20 participants from across Europe (Holland, Poland, Spain, Belgium, Italy) and was hosted by the Philanthropy House in Brussels. The primary regional organizers were BBE, HIAS and ECJC. In addition, other organizations contributed and provided training expertise and resources.

Beyond the immediate training objectives, bringing the various European stakeholders together, this was an opportunity to share initial successes and challenges in relation to the hosting of Ukrainian refugees, as well as providing a platform for coordination between Jewish communities in Eastern and Western Europe respectively.

B’nai B’rith Europe Director, Hanna Kalmenson and Communication and Public Affairs Officer, Iris Weissbuch, held and attended this training.
