Joseph H. Domberger was president of the BBE Continental from 1977 to 1985. Born in the region of Lvov, then Lemberg in Poland, his family was warned of the imminent arrival of the Nazi occupiers and at the age of 13 he miraculously escaped with his family, each one having with him only the clothes he could wear. They settled first in Palestine, then in Argentina, where he met his future wife Jacqueline, and then returned to Germany where he became a wealthy real estate developer. He is fluent in French, English, Spanish, Hebrew, Polish, Yiddish, Russian and, of course, German. In addition, he has established relationships of trust with a large number of political leaders across the Rhine, allowing for regular dialogue and increased visibility of B’nai B’rith in many countries through meetings initiated at the highest level.
