BBI - Outrageous Terror Attack in Israel as President Bush addresses Leaders in Honor of Israel's 60th Anniversar (Jerusalem, May 14, 2008) - The May 14 terror attack on the Israeli city of Ashkelon, on the same day as President Bush made a speech to honor Israel’s 60thanniversary, demonstrates the brazenness of Israel’s enemies.
The rocket was fired from Gaza and hit a shopping mall in Ashkelon, injuring at least 14 people. The western Negev, especially Sderot, and now Ashkelon, has been under constant rocket attack for years.
“An attack while the president of the United States is in Jerusalem meeting with Israel’s leaders only points to the violent depravity that characterizes the terrorists who engage in this activity,” said B’nai B’rith International (BBI) President Moishe Smith.
Smith and BBI Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin attended the president’s speech in Jerusalem at the Israel Conference Center at the exclusive “Facing Tomorrow” conference organized by Israeli President Shimon Peres in honor of Israel’s 60th anniversary. Also attending the conference were Haim Katz, chairman of the B’nai B’rith World Center in Jerusalem; Alan Schneider, director of the B’nai B’rith World Center; and Frank Dimant, executive director of B’nai B’rith Canada.
