On behalf of the Polin Lodge I would like to draw your attention to a very important event in Warsaw.
On 30 June 2009, the construction of the Museum of the History of Polish Jewry began in the vicinity of the Warsaw Ghetto Monument. The museum will commemorate the legacy of Jews in Poland, serving for future generations from all over the world as a centre of education and culture and we expect it to become a Warsaw landmark.
On 21 October 2009, the world-famous violinist Joshua Bell is giving a
one-time performance at the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera, an
event that will bring together national cultures and personal
biographies organized to the benefit of the Museum of the History of
Polish Jews. Revenue from the concert will be dedicated towards the
future museum's core exhibition.
The organizers, and especially the author of the project and producer,
Mr. Sigmund A. Rolat from New York, want this remarkable cultural event
to announce to the world the birth of the Museum in the city of Warsaw,
which before World War II was a home for over 350,000 of our Jewish
brothers and sisters. The Museum will display the 1000-year history of
Jewish-Polish life on Poland’s territories, evidence of so many
people’s attachment to traditions and of their hope that future
generations of citizens should be immune to anti-Semitic, racist and
chauvinist agitation.
