The European Day of Jewish Culture in Strasbourg
The René Hirschler Lodge had the pleasure to welcome Graham Weinberg, the new President of B’nai B’rith Europe and his wife for the European Day of Jewish Culture in Strasbourg. Created in 1995 by a few very enthusiastic brothers and sisters of the Hirschler Lodge to preserve their Jewish heritage in Alsace, the event has extended today to 27 countries and brings 200.000 visitors throughout Europe.

The subject was Jewish Music. We had a concert of Klezmer clarinet with the famous Rose Bacot as a soloist at the Massorti cultural center and a lecture in French at the Radio Shalom in Nice.

The European Day of Jewish Culture in Bulgaria
The European Day of Jewish Culture was first held in 1999, and since 2000 Bulgaria has been observing the open doors-type event as well. For 2008, the day was Sunday 7th September and the theme was music. The public was invited to discover Jewish music and the influences that it has had on world music throughout the ages, through visits to Jewish community centres and places of worship, concerts and theatre.
